Important: Approved Southwest Virginia and Out-of-State attendees may receive separate coordination and pricing instructions. Standard attendees in Hampton Roads and Petersburg register at the standard rate regardless of transportation method.

Our Story

Church of Jesus Brotherhood Outing

The COJ Brotherhood Outing is a 1-day overnight trip where a group of men — Christian and alike — come together to enjoy an NBA game, fellowship, and meaningful connections in Charlotte, NC.

This annual tradition began in 2013 as a small surprise trip to honor our Pastor at a Lakers game. What started with just 3-4 brothers quickly grew to 19 men — and once we upgraded to a suite, the experience became something no one wanted to miss.

Over five years before COVID, the outing grew from 20 to as many as 45 attendees, drawing brothers from multiple churches. Now, after years of waiting, we are bringing it back — and 2027 is the year.

The Brotherhood Experience

Everything is handled. All you bring is brotherhood.

Round-Trip Travel

Comfortable round-trip charter transportation from Hampton Roads / Petersburg area. Southwest VA and out-of-state brothers coordinate separately.

Hotel Lodging

Overnight hotel stay in Charlotte with double occupancy. Rest up and enjoy the full overnight Brotherhood experience.

NBA Game Ticket

Exclusive group access to an NBA game at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC. Event date to be announced.

Group-Only Suite

Our signature suite experience — an exclusive, private viewing suite reserved only for the Brotherhood Outing group.

Catered Suite Buffet

Full catered buffet served in the suite during the game. No concession lines — just great food and better company.

Court Floor Access

1 hour on the Spectrum Center court floor before game tip-off. Walk where the pros play.

Brotherhood Breakfast

COJ Brotherhood Group Breakfast Buffet the morning before departure — a tradition within the tradition.

Our Legacy

The History of the Brotherhood Outing

The Brotherhood Outing was born in 2013 from a simple desire: honor our Pastor with a surprise trip to see the Los Angeles Lakers. A cruise conflict led us to Charlotte, a spontaneous suite upgrade changed everything, and 20 brothers showed up to what would become an annual tradition.

Over the next five years, the event grew from 20 to as many as 45 attendees — men from multiple churches, Christian and not-yet-Christian alike, coming together for fellowship and a shared love of sports. The suite became our living room. The breakfast became our send-off. The bonds became lifelong.

COVID paused us. But it never stopped us. The Brotherhood relaunched in 2025, expanded in 2026, and now carries its legacy forward into 2027.

2013 First Brotherhood Outing — 20 brothers, suite upgrade, tradition born.
2014–2019 Annual outings grow to 45+ attendees from multiple churches.
2020–2024 COVID pause — but the Brotherhood never disbanded.
2025 Brotherhood relaunch weekend held January 31 – February 1, 2025. The tradition returned stronger than ever, including the introduction of professional event photography to preserve the Brotherhood legacy and memories.
2026 Historic expansion year featuring the attendance of Virginia State Diocesan Bishop Delmar L. Jackson II, continued Brotherhood growth, and another unforgettable weekend of fellowship and connection.
2027 The Brotherhood continues growing — preparing for the next chapter.
